Attached below is the screen session that are typescript output files from ssh sessions we saved from the initial replication setup work we did with Jeff Frost of PGX.
We got to the point where we found that there was no SSH connectivity allowed from our offsite slave to our onsite master.
This appears to be a firewall setting.
We adjourned the meeting to resolve that issue The order in which to read these is to
start with replication_setup_initial.txt
followed by replication_setup_sf.txt
and finish with replication_setup_sd.txt.
Although Jeff makes it look easy, I would say that the setup is non trivial.
While it would not hurt to fully understand how to setup replication,
it is not necessary because we have engaged PG Experts to help support the application.
We expect that support from PGX to be minimal - say 10-20 hours.
What we do need to understand well is how to support replication during day to day operations.
This will be the subject of another page.
