Descriptions

A description or summary should explain more about the action the user wants to do.

Summaries often show up in search results, so explain why someone should open that page.

A summary should have important words in the front. Keep your summary shorter than 110 characters, as search engines cut off text unpredictably.

 

Use (what the user needs to do)

  • You need a marriage license to get married in California. Get yours less than 90 days before you get married.



  • You can get a copy of a birth certificate for someone born in San Francisco after 1906.

Not (how we think about it)

  • Only 2 unmarried persons over the age of 18 years of age with valid legal identification may apply for a marriage license in California. Anyone under 18 must obtain a court order through the Juvenile Court system.

  • The Office of Vital Records is responsible for registering all of the births and deaths that take place within the City and County of San Francisco only.
