Location

Use for places that are open to the public, that are needed when getting a service. Best for City buildings or City partner locations, since you’ll need to continually keep the info updated.

Goals

Help public easily and safely get to a physical location. Give information for someone deciding to go to a location.

Audience

General public who need to visit a location

How it works

Locations are based on an Address, but can contain much more information about a place than a simple Address entity. For instance they have a photo, description, and access info.

If there are multiple departments or other locations operating at this location, add them in “At this location”.

Currently, locations are not automatically linked to from anywhere else. They must be manually linked to.

What is reused

Addresses are saved and can be reused on pages.

Services are links to other transactions on SF.gov. Drupal will pull the title and description for each tile, so you only need to update the text on the transaction.

Images are shared across all content types.

Notes

In the future, we are interested in exploring what entry points there should be to locations from other pages.
