Highest level landing page.

Use for the highest-level landing page of SF.gov

The SF.gov homepage

Note

Only Digital Services admin has access to the Landing page.

Goals

The homepage is meant to be the area where we communicate a few high-level items to a visitor.

It is a necessary component of any website. It is one of our few pages where the primary audience is our internal stakeholders. This does not mean we neglect it, but it does change some aspects of our approach — for example, the first item on the page may not always be a service.

Most San Franciscans will not go to the homepage on their own. They will likely use search engines or social media posts to land directly on a deeper page. We can balance public services with outreach messages by our internal stakeholders.

Audience

Internal stakeholders in charge of city communications, like the Mayor’s Office.

“Navigator” users who go to this page by browsing.

Notes

Currently, we do not get very high traffic on the homepage relative to other pages. We do not expect this to change, nor do we plan to try to change it.
