Use for the highest-level landing page of SF.gov

Goals

The homepage is meant to be the area where we communicate a few high-level items to a visitor. It is a necessary component of any website.

It is one of our few pages where the primary audience is our internal stakeholders. This does not mean we neglect it, but it does change some aspects of our approach — for example, the first item on the page may not always be a service.

Audience

Internal stakeholders in charge of city communications, like the Mayor’s Office

“Navigator” users

How it works

Sections

  • Campaign

  • Services

  • Events

  • News

  • Electeds

  • New website disclaimer

The sections can all be reordered, removed, or added. Currently, Events are not being shown on the homepage, but can be easily added if we choose to.

Notes

Currently, we do not get very high traffic on the homepage relative to other pages. We do not expect this to change, nor do we plan to try to change it.
